Observations from home

What are some changes I might notice?

Often these basic symptoms may be accompanied by a change in behavior. While these changes can be very subtle or vague, a person experiencing basic symptoms or their friends and family may notice:

  • Discomfort out in public/spending more time alone
  • Less motivation
  • Dropping out of activities
  • Drop in grades at school
  • Not working as carefully/loss of employment
  • Using drugs and alcohol
  • More mystical/philosophical or religious ideas
  • More argumentative/blameful/challenging towards family
  • Blank expressions, not responding to questions or frequently asking for questions to be repeated
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Impaired hygiene
  • More worried/anxious
  • Easily overwhelmed and more sensitive to stress
  • Refusing to spend time with friends/family for example to eat meals
