The ZIP Study

Protocol# 08-0239 (GCRC 2687)

The goal of the ZIP study is to better understand the treatment of Basic Symptoms. All of the participants in this study have a 50% chance that they will receive medication. Each individual is randomly assigned to either receive medication or not.

Who is eligible?

  • Ages 16-40
  • Experiencing basic symptoms
  • Treatment Seeking
  • Willing to consider a medication for these problems

 

You are not eligible if you have had a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or psychosis


Study Participation
Study participation will require 15 short visits over a 24 week period. Study visits can be arranged around your schedule. Study participation will involve answering questions about your physical and mental health, computerized tests of memory, attention, social skills and problem solving ability. Study participation will also include the possibility of receiving medication for your symptoms. You will also be offered optional therapy sessions. A blood draw will occur at two of the visits. You will be monetarily compensated for your time spent in the study.
